1 Jan 1901      New Year’s Day. At P McGrath’s place, the Pines. A good shower of rain.

2 Jan 1901      P McGrath drove me to Grenfell. I then came by coach to Cowra. Cool day. Took Bimby in coach.

3 Jan 1901      At home all day.

4 Jan 1901      I put a pair of shafts in the buckboard.

5 Jan 1901      At home all day.

6 Jan 1901      Sunday. At home. Blowing a gale all day.

7 Jan 1901      Working at my diary. Great wind.

10 Jan 1901    Great wind in the evening. Blew down Ormiston’s balcony. Heavy rain.

16 Jan 1901    I drove to Canowindra. Removing trough in the evening.

17 Jan 1901    Working at the windmill tank for Mrs Wills. Nash and an expert came. We finished the windmill.

18 Jan 1901    Turning bottom of tank. Expert gone to Cowra.

19 Jan 1901    A man and I screwing up bolts in tank all day.

20 Jan 1901    Sunday. I had dinner and tea at Henry Grant’s.

21 Jan 1901    Painted bottom of tank with tar, and stand.

22 Jan 1901    Queen Victoria died. Nash came at 12 o’clock.

23 Jan 1901    Finished tank. Mr Suttor, the Inspector, came.

24 Jan 1901    Tank leaking. Had to screw it up again.

25 Jan 1901    Filled the tank. The Government Inspector at the Canowindra bridge, passed the work. Nash and I came to Cowra.

26 Jan 1901    Anniversary of the Colony. Letter from Kitty. Hot.

27 Jan 1901    Sunday. At home. Thunderstorm at 12 o’clock.

28 Jan 1901    I rode out to Bonnie Doon, H Watt’s. Cool day.

29 Jan 1901    H Watt and I looking for pines for sawmill.

30 Jan 1901    I rode to Cowra. Put the filly in Grogan’s paddock.

31 Jan 1901    I bought an axe at Murray’s. Sent a letter to Minnie.

1 Feb 1901      Sent a letter to Government Printing Office for Old Age Pension Act. Great fire at Wattamondara paddock.

2 Feb 1901      Mrs Watt called. I bought two axe handles.

3 Feb 1901      Sunday. Getting ready to go out to cut pine logs.

4 Feb 1901      H Watt brought me in a draught horse. I bought a chestnut horse from Bob Muir. I drove out to Bonnie Doon.

5 Feb 1901      We drove out to the pines near Cherry’s Creek.

6 Feb 1901      H Watt and I cut 15 pine logs. Watt went home.

7 Feb 1901      H Watt came and brought a timber Licence.

8 Feb 1901      Cutting pine logs. Very hot.

9 Feb 1901      Cutting pine logs. Great heat.

10 Feb 1901    Cutting logs. H Watt went home.

11 Feb 1901    H Watt brought a tank of water. Cloudy day.

12 Feb 1901    We cut 16 logs. Cloudy day.

13 Feb 1901    H Watt went home. Cutting logs off with the crosscut.

14 Feb 1901    I finished cutting with the crosscut. H Watt home.

15 Feb 1901    I cut 4 logs.

16 Feb 1901    H Watt came, and went home again.

17 Feb 1901    I cut 3 logs, making 70 logs cut.

18 Feb 1901    Sunday. At the camp all day.

19 Feb 1901    I cut 7 logs. H Watt not come.

20 Feb 1901    I cut 4 logs. H Watt brought four horses and wagon. We shifted camp to dam.

21 Feb 1901    Loaded 18 logs. I went as far as Broula Hill with him.

22 Feb 1901    H Watt came and left the wagon up at the logs.

23 Feb 1901    We put on 5 logs. I went to top of Broula and back.

24 Feb 1901    H Watt took his draught horses to Cowra and got them shod. I rode to his place and stayed all night.

25 Feb 1901    Sunday. We put 13 logs on the wagon. Wrote a letter to grace.

26 Feb 1901    I saw H Watt start and came on to the camp.

27 Feb 1901    Repaired crossing at Boggy Creek. H Watt not come.

28 Feb 1901    I rode to watt’s. H Watt on the spree in Cowra.

1 Mar 1901      I rode out to the camp and back to Watt’s.

2 Mar 1901      I took 2 draught horses and brought out the wagon from Cowra. Mrs watt brought H Watt out.

3 Mar 1901      I rode top Cowra and had dinner at Jim’s. came back.

4 Mar 1901      Sunday. I repaired the wagon and stayed all night.

5 Mar 1901      H Watt drove the wagon out to the camp.

6 Mar 1901      Carted 10 pine logs to near Dwyer’s woolshed.

7 Mar 1901      Carted 6 logs to dwyer’s woolshed. Watt gone home.

8 Mar 1901      H Watt came. We repaired the wagon.

9 Mar 1901      Carted a load of logs to the woolshed.

11 Mar 1901    Sunday. Raining. Went and pulled some pine logs together.
